One Form Light Gauge Steel House Design
Posted on 14th February 2019 at 16:02
We have developed a one form light gauge steel house design based on our existing add in that exports data to Excel and can import data such as dimensions from Excel also. This opens up the door to automated designs and estimatings tools.
We have further developed our Add In For Light Gauge Steel so that with one form the user can define the size of the house in terms of length, width and storey height. User can also define C section joist's used, joist centres, studs and stud centres along with noggins.
A window opening, head and cill height along with an opening in the floor for stairs can be defined.
From here the software runs the calculations, designs the bracing and calculates the self weight of the building - including K Bracing in the walls!
At the end the add in then exports the data - dimensions, profile references for roof, floor and walls along with member centres, window and stair openings into Excel.
From Excel it's possible to link to 3D Cad / BIM, but also to reverse the process. 3D cad / BIM models can export dimensions to Excel and the Tedds Add In can read the data in and design to dimensions it's provided.
We are also looking to re develop some work Steve did as part of a PhD on Costing, Scheduling and Estimating so that users can calculate time required to assemble the frames, not just the weight.
If you interested in either of these developments and want to know more or work with us to develop further, or one for yourselves, drop us a line via the contact page.
